SITE BACKGROUND:

For almost 100 years, Kerr-McGee and its predecessors treated railroad ties at the ±68-acre Facility, leading to creosote-related contamination in the soil and groundwater at and around the Facility. The Multistate Trust has been prioritizing evaluating the off-Facility migration of contaminants that may potentially affect the surrounding community. The Facility is regulated under a Missouri Hazardous Waste Management Facility (MHWMF) Part I Permit for post-closure care and corrective action.

As part of the 2011 Tronox bankruptcy settlement, the Multistate Trust was established to own, investigate, and clean up the Facility and position it for safe, beneficial reuse. Greenfield Environmental Multistate Trust LLC is Trustee of the Multistate Trust.
